An intensive outpatient program is an ideal alternative to drug treatment for individuals who can’t step away from their work responsibilities or family obligations. Standard residential rehab or inpatient treatment requires individuals to live at the facility for usually a minimum of 30-days. But many can’t afford to take that much time away from their everyday lives. Thus, Insight Recovery Centers offers an intensive outpatient program or IOP giving clients the flexibility they need to get the treatment they want for substance use disorder or mental health issues.
What Is An Intensive Outpatient Program?
An intensive outpatient program is often suitable for those who can’t make that commitment, or who have already spent time in an inpatient treatment program or partial hospitalization program, and who now need help reintegrating, drug-free, back into their daily routines. For clients who have completed detox and finished a residential treatment program, intensive outpatient care is a step down that still delivers the necessary treatment to individuals.
The services in an IOP are similar to that of an inpatient or residential program. The treatment takes place at regularly scheduled times each day both in the day and evening at our facility. Groups are usually small, less than eight people so individuals can still get the personalized attention they need. However, patients return to their home afterward, giving them the ability to stay connected to family, keep up with work or school. Not only does an IOP work well for individuals with ongoing responsibilities but also for individuals who have already completed a treatment program but need more structured care afterward. Similarly, it’s an entry point for a program participant who relapsed. What sets apart this program from others is the fact that you can maintain your job and living arrangement.
